Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose(HPMC)

 

HPMC is a type of nonionic cellulose ether,it is characterized by water solubility, water retention, nonionic, stability of the PH value,surface activity, temperature reversible, gelling properties, thickening property, film formability,lubrication property etc.HPMC is widely used in building materials,coatings,synthetic resins,ceramics,etc.

 

Physicochemical Properties

1. Exterior: White or off-white powder

2. particle size: the passing rate of 80 mesh is 100% the passing rate of 100 mesh is more than 99.5%

3. Charring density:280-300℃

4. Apparent density: 0. 25-0.70g/cm(usually around 0.5g/cm), the proportion is 1.26-1.31

5. Thermochromic temperature: 190-200℃

6. Surface tension: 2% of aqueous solution is 42-56dyn/cn.

7.Solubility: soluble in water and some organic solvents, such as ethanol & water in appropriate proportion, dioxoethane etc. Aqueous solution is surface-active, transparent with stable property. Products with different specifications gel at different tempera-tures and their solubility changes with viscosity: the lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility is HPMCS with different specifica-tions have different properties. The solution of HPMC in water is not affected by PH

8. When methoxy content decreases, HPMCS gel point increases, ts solubility in water and surface activitydecrease.

9. HPMC also has the following characteristics thickening, salt exclusion, ow ash content, stability in PH and dimension, water retention, excellent film-forming property, as well as broad enzyme resistance, dispersity and cohesiveness
